Digital Collage

Answer the following questions in paragraph form:
  • What imagery appears in your collage?
  • What types of changes did you make to the layers of your collage?
  • How did your idea for your collage change as you were working on it?
  • What new ideas did you try out in your collage?
  • What is most successful in your collage?
  • What would you change and why?
  • Anything else?

I used a lot of animals in my collage because I have two cats, a dog, and a bunch of fish at home that I love dearly, I wanted to incorporate animals into my collage. I kept changing my ideas to make it more of my perfect world rather than what other people might think of as perfect. The thing i like most about my collage is that everything in it is things i really like or care about. I would make my collage flow a little better, i really had a hard time deciding where everything should go, so if i could blend my collage a little better and have everything fit that would help a lot! I really liked this project, i thought it was really creative and a lot of fun! I wish i would have had a better idea of what to put in my collage too.. oh well! save that for next time :)

    Ideal World

    1. If you lived in your ideal world, what would it look like? Everything would be green (healthy) there would be a lot of family owned restaurants and little shops. There wouldn't be any giant corporations- everything would be very family oriented. People would be kind and say hi to each other on the streets and there would not be a lot of upper class people there- to make everyone equal. Imagine Lake Calhoun area/NE Minneapolis (Johnson/29th avenue area..) My world would be a lot like that!
    2. Where would it be? Somewhere a lot like here, a little bit of all seasons.
    3. What colors would you see? Green, a lot of grass, fun colors! whatever colors people want to paint their shops and houses.
    4. What objects or things would be common? Bicycles, people, art shows, shops.
    5. What objects or things wouldn't be common? Large corporations, chain restaurants.
    6. What type of people would live there? All types as long as they are nice and don't look down on other people.
    7. How would people interact with each other? The ways we do now, on the phone, computer, in person, texting, etc.
    8. What else?  Tell me something unique about your perfect world.  I wouldn't really want to change anyone so that they would be living in my "perfect world" i would want it to be more of a realistic thing, rather than thinking of it as a cult or something... So i guess right now my world is pretty ideal. BUT, money wouldn't have to exist. Because, for some reason the world revolves around money and i would want it to mean more than that- rather than selfish people who think getting people to like them by buying stuff works.. i would rather have everyone be known for their personality or what they like, etc.

    Documentary Photographs

    Welcome

    Tree

    Lights

    Belts

    • What did you photograph for your documentary photography series? I spent one of my shifts at my new job,  A Bag Lady, taking some pictures of my boss and I setting up our new christmas decorations and rearranging the store.
    • Why did you choose to document this? I chose to document my work because it's really fun and new and there's a lot to look at! Right when you walk in there's a bunch of clothes and jewelry all over, catching your eye. So i thought it would make some really unique photographs.
    • What did you want to reveal or show about it? I wanted to show how different my work is from many others. A Bag Lady is a lot like Patina, but smaller and more personal. Anyone can find something fun and special to them and it's a great place to just walk around and look at new stuff!
    • What did you learn about what you documented during this process? I learned that it's actually really hard to take pictures of jewelry and sparkley things because the flash reflects the sparkles and makes it hard to take a good photograph! I also learned that my boss hates having her picture taken, haha!
    • What is your favorite image and why? My favorite picture is Tree, the picture of all the necklaces hanging because the picture really shows a lot of different colors in the necklaces, and the flash made the background turn black so it makes the necklaces appear really important and bold. Plus, I really love necklaces.
